Engagement & Digital Media
Our intellectual engagement with Vietnam extends beyond the realm of academia to include dialogues with professionals from different walks of life.
Recent examples of this include our engagement with the work of artists and curators that began at the 8th conference in 2016, and our collaboration with professionals from the worlds of tourism and heritage at the 9th conference in 2017-18.
Such engagement has been featured at the annual conference. At the 9th conference, for instance, we held a forum with artists and a curator on “Touring as Inventing” and a discussion on “Honoring and (Re)Creating Heritage” with the owners and architect of The Myst Dong Khoi.
Over the past two years we have begun to develop “digital content” by creating videos of conversations that we have had with Engaging With Vietnam conference keynote speakers, participants and their colleagues, such as tourism researcher Trinh Le Anh, historians Tran Trong Duong, Tran Quang Duc and Nguyen Huu Su, art curators Nguyen Nhu Huy, Nguyen Quoc Thanh and Truong Que Chi, visual artist Trieu Minh Hai, legal scholar Tran Kien and members of the Hackathon development team Ian Van Buskirk and Duong Nguyen Khang.
Through these conversations we discuss ideas from Engaging With Vietnam conferences and much more.
