Translation and Knowledge

This plenary panel discusses and examines issues surrounding knowledge, knowledge mobility, and knowledge production in the practice of translation and in translated works including academic texts and popular/ know-how texts. Through an interactive and spirited dialogue and debate among the hosts and invited panelists, we will attempt to cover several key matters, namely the choice of works and authors for translation, translation as an effort to make social change, the multi-faceted impact of translation, and translation in the market economy and the age of global rankings and metrics.
