Announcing the first Keynote Panel and Keynote Speakers for the 14th Engaging With Vietnam Conference, August 1-6 2023, Hue, Vietnam.

Keynote Panel “Unpacking Heritage: Meanings, Discourses, Practices and Consumption”

Keynote Speaker: Dr. Pham Quynh Phuong, Associate Professor, Head of Cultural and Creative Industries at the School of Interdisciplinary Studies, Vietnam National University Hanoi.

Keynote Speaker: Dr. Rui Oliveira Lopes, Senior Assistant Professor, Program Leader, Design and Creative Industries, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Universiti Brunei Darussalam.

In this keynote panel, the speakers will introduce the topic of heritage and the multiple meanings, interpretations of the term, major discourses and how those discourses have shaped social and cultural consumptions, aspirations, practices and policy, etc. The speakers will also discuss and provide insights into challenges, opportunities and on-going debates surrounding heritage, with examples and analyses from Vietnam and other contexts.
